Successful debut by Sruthan

Sruthan, a half-brother to Sunday’s Madrid Handicap winner Srucahan, created a favourable impression when making a successful debut in the Irish News Against The Breeze Median Auction Maiden at Dundalk’s rescheduled meeting last night.

A son of Arakan, bred and owned by the Hyland family, Sruthan was allowed settle behind the leaders by Chris Hayes before challenging between horses to lead with less than two furlongs to race. The 4/1 shot kept going well to beat Pearl Of Africa by a length and a quarter.

Hayes completed a double when giving the Harry Rogers- trained veteran Solo Performer (20/1) an enterprising ride to land the Irish News Hitting The Target Handicap at the expense of the Michael Halford-trained pair Cebuano and Paddy The Celeb, the eight-year-old’s sixth win at Dundalk.
