Casting Shadows looks the percentage bet
The seven-year-old is a long way removed from being the most consistent horse in training, but a reproduction of her latest effort at Thurles will surely be good enough. Jumping for fun, Chasing Shadows stepped well up on two previous efforts to finish a length and a half second behind Carrig Millie.
She ran near the front throughout and dropping back two furlongs in trip now should work in her favour.
Regular pilot, Bryan Cooper, is currently serving a two-day suspension, but Hughes, encouragingly, has grabbed the services of Andrew Lynch, a rider who often likes to allow his mounts to roll along in the lead.
The danger is Back In A Tic, who is certainly a better horse than the selection, but needs much further than this trip and the fact the race will be run on the inside track is another concern.
