Classic heroine Kazzia dies at 14

Kazzia, the last filly to complete the 1000 Guineas-Oaks double has died at the age of 14 following post-foaling complications at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket.

The first German bred to win a British Group One, Kazzia gave birth to a Dubawi filly which has survived.

Owned by Godolphin and trained by Saeed bin Suroor, the daughter of Zinaad lifted the two Classics in 2002 when she also won the Flower Bowl Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park.
