Approach can get it right

The frustrating Rapid Approach is given a final chance to at last get it right in the Dundalk Stadium-Light Up Your Night Maiden on the all-weather this evening.

Approach can get it right

Jim Bolger’s colt was a costly failure here two weeks ago, but there is no doubt has a bit more going for him on this occasion.

He went off a well backed favourite, but failed to cope with the late rush of Tommy Stack’s Your Pal Tal, going under by half a length.

There are two reasons for not losing faith with the selection. Firstly, the six furlongs then was on the short side and seven looks more suitable. Secondly, Rapid Approach had a bad draw last time, out in 13, and four now is a big plus.

Willie McCreery’s La Belle Maison, frustrating as well, gets the nod in the first division off the Happy Christmas To All Our Patrons Maiden.

She seemed to have too much use made of her when fourth of seven behind Rummaging in a handicap at Dundalk on her latest appearance and an extra furlong to travel, and the exercising of a little more restraint, could see her provide the solution to a modest contest.

The second section may fall to Oh So Lucy, dropping down two furlongs in trip, after finishing fourth to Miss Forde at Dundalk last month.

Michael Halford’s Bensoon had no answer to the late surge of Cottesloe here a week ago, but could go one better in the Crowne Plaza Jockey And Trainer Awards Handicap.
