Nolan looking forward to Noble Prince’s Roan run
The eight-year-old suffered an injury on his final start of the campaign in the Ryanair, but trainer Paul Nolan is looking forward to getting him back on the racecourse this weekend.
Nolan said: “All going well, the plan is for him to run on Saturday and I’m very happy with him at home.
“He got injured in Cheltenham but we’ve had no setbacks since and he’s as straight as we can get him without having had a run. Obviously we’ll be looking to run him on better ground this season and we are definitely looking at going up in trip.
“He’ll be in races like the King George and he obviously has to improve, but we’ll see how we get on.
“Hopefully we can keep him injury-free and have a good season with him.”
Noble Prince is one of 19 Roan entries – and the sole Irish contender.
Albertas Run will not defend his crown .
Other interesting players include Wishfull Thinking, Nacarat, Gauvain, For Non Stop and Hector’s Choice.
Meanwhile, exciting prospect Flemenstar is likely to kick off his campaign in the Fortria Chase at Navan on November 11.
Peter Casey’s pride and joy enjoyed a superb novice campaign over fences, winning five of his six starts and signing off with a brilliant performance in the Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse.
He is as short as 12-1 for this season’s Cheltenham Gold Cup, but is set to come back in trip for his eagerly anticipated seasonal reappearance.
Casey said: “He came back to us a while ago and he looks super. He has strengthened up a lot and the plan is to start him off at Navan.
“He’ll head to The Curragh tomorrow for a bit of work up the Old Vic (Gallop) and that should leave him right for Navan. We’ll try and get a racecourse school into him somewhere beforehand. After that, I’d say that he’ll go for something like the (John) Durkan Chase at Punchestown.”
