While the Co Wexford trainer is hoping to start the 2011 Jewson Novices’ Chase victor off in Gowran Park’s Champion Chase over two and a half miles on October 6, his later objectives look like being on this side of the Irish Sea.
Ideally, Nolan would like his Gowran Park trip to be a prep race for the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on December 13.
Noble Prince is back in training after a summer break following his recovery from a back problem incurred in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
“He’s in good shape. He’s back riding out and hopefully he will have a better time of it this season,” said Nolan.
“We’re looking forward to getting him out and we have a couple of different options for him.
“We will try and pick out the places where the ground is reasonably good.
“We might go across the water with him from the very start this year and try to avoid heavy ground.
“We have the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon in mind for him and if we do get a dry spell over here we might start him off at Gowran Park.
“He’s been ridden out now for about three weeks. The weather was so bad we brought him in earlier, so he’s just doing a bit of steady work. He’s a long way off running yet.
“He had treatment on his back after Cheltenham and hopefully all will be well.”
