On Saturday at Ascot John Gosden suffered the agony of watching his Nathaniel being nailed in the final stride of the King George by the German mare Danedream.

But at the Curragh yesterday Gosden was all smiles after Nathaniel’s sister, Great Heavens, ran away with the Darley Irish Oaks.
