Laganbank can recoup losses

Laganbank, a costly failure at the track last time, returns to the scene of the crime in the first division of the beginners chase at Roscommon tonight and is the nap choice.

Willie Mullins’ charge went off a well-backed 7-4 favourite on that occasion, but went under by two and a half lengths to Baily Green.

A blunder at the fourth last, however, was crucial in determining the final outcome. Ruby Walsh then gave him plenty of time to recover and the selection was always struggling to close down the winner in the straight.

Overall Laganbank’s jumping was most impressive, however, and, with the experience under his belt and another five furlongs to travel, is very much the one to be on.

The other section of the same contest looks destined for John Carr’s progressive eight-year-old, Benash.

A decent hurdler, he produced a solid effort when beaten two and a quarter lengths into second by Prince Ludovic at Kilbeggan last month.

The Dermot Hughes Toyota Car Sales Novice Chase is best left to Mouse Morris’ Baily Green, who made all when beating Laganbank at Roscommon.

Fellow front-runner, Absolutlyfantastic, and hold-up horse, Lend A Hand Son, are interesting rivals.
