Purple, who is bred to be far better than she is, is the nap choice to get off the mark at the sixth time of asking in the Garlow Cross Handicap at Navan this afternoon.

She is by Galileo out of Necklace, who won the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, but the selection is unlikely to ever live up to her pedigree. That said, however, Purple did perform with distinct promise last time and a little contest such as this does look within her compass.

On this track last month she was beaten a neck and a length into third spot behind Kashmir Peak and Lord Jim and meets the runner-up on exactly the same terms.
