Thomas Dante bid in jeopardy
Henry Cecil’s colt opened his account at the second attempt at Leicester last year and holds entries in the Dante, the Investec Derby at Epsom and the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot next month. But having failed to get a run so far this year due to the prevailing testing conditions, he is unlikely to be thrown in at the deep end at York.
Meanwhile Aidan O’Brien is responsible for three of the 15 entries as he chases his first victory in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York on Wednesday.
The Group Three contest has so far eluded the master of Ballydoyle, but he has a strong team this year.
Was made a big impression when winning on her debut at the Curragh last August and is joined by stablemates Twirl and Soon. The only other Irish entry is the Jim Bolger-trained Alla Speranza, who was sixth in last weekend’s 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
