‘Sore’ Instalment to miss RSA
Carrying the colours of the Michael O’Leary-owned Gigginstown House Stud, the seven-year-old produced a terrific round of jumping and staying power to land the Grade 1 Dr P J Moriarty Novice Chase at Leopardstown last Sunday.
Speaking yesterday afternoon, Fenton said: “The horse has got jarred up and is pretty sore all around after Sunday.
“I spoke to Eddie (O’Leary’s brother) on Monday and then we made the decision today, after Eddie had spoken to Michael, who is away at the moment.
“That’s the dream over now, but with rest I’m sure Last Instalment will be back next season.’
The son of Anshan is unbeaten in four races over fences and was set to head to Cheltenham as a live possibility.
A general 7-1 shot for the RSA Chase, only Grands Crus and Bobs Worth were ahead of him in the market.
Regarded by many as Ireland’s best hope of winning a Gold Cup in the near future, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Last Instalment.
