Alasi likely to skip clash with Peddlers
The Banbury trainer feels the time is not right for the smart mare to be throw in the deep end against three talented geldings in the williamhill.com Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase.
The seven-year-old made a successful debut over fences against her own sex at Huntingdon earlier this month, having taken a Listed mares’ hurdle prize on her first outing since the spring.
She also holds an entry in the Mobile Mares’ Handicap Hurdle on the same card, but could bypass Kempton all together.
“I think if all those three run then we will avoid that and do something else,” said Webber.
“I don’t want to take on three good horses, I don’t mind taking on a couple, but not three.
“We might skip that and wait a week or two.”
Meanwhile Paul Webber is looking forward to Time For Rupert stepping back up in grade at Cheltenham next month following his recent success at Newbury.
The Banbury trainer has the Argento Chase in mind for his smart chaser who enjoyed an all-the-way confidence-boosting victory in a four-runner field.
