Slade Power can spark in opener

SLADE POWER is the nap choice to defy an absence of 194 days in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden at Dundalk tonight.

Slade Power can spark in opener

The son of Dutch Art has clearly had problems, but it is encouraging that Eddie Lynam asks him to race again so late in the year and the booking of Pat Smullen would indicate connections mean business.

The selection’s sole outing came at the Curragh back in May and it was a performance rich in promise. He wasn’t the quickest away, but stayed on nicely at the end of six furlongs to finish four lengths second to Reply.

The form has worked out well with Reply, Tenth Star (third) and Foot Soldier (fourth) all scoring subsequently.

Lynam and Smullen can complete a first and last race double with Denny Crane in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap.

He was in action here a week ago, failing by a short head to reel in Elizabeth Coffee, after being denied a gap for a few strides inside the furlong pole.

A third Lynam possibility, this time with Kevin Manning in the plate, is the admirably consistent Duff in the Group Discounts At Dundalk Stadium Race.

His latest outing came on this track last month when humping top weight of 9-10 in a competitive handicap.

Beaten about half a length into fourth behind Gordon Lord Byron, he now re-opposes that winner on 17lbs better terms.

Solent Ridge, doing all his best work at the end when third to Gordon Lord Byron here last time, can show his appreciation of the extra furlong in the Gary Wiltshire Winning It Back Handicap.
