Battle royal for jockeys’ title

TONIGHT’S meeting at Dundalk is the fourth last of the Flat season, with the conclusion at Leopardstown on Sunday, November 6, and the battle for the Jockeys’ Championship is going down to the wire.

Johnny Murtagh leads Pat Smullen by just three (77 to 74) with just 28 races available.

Murtagh has been champion on four occasions and has enjoyed another excellent season, with the domestic highlight being his first victory in the Irish Field St Leger at the Curragh on Mark Johnston’s Jukebox Jury (on whom he dead-heated for first place).
