Dr Tommy can provide the answer
Kieran Purcell’s charge has some reasonable form to his name and may be capable of landing this modest heat.
Having performed with real promise when second at Killarney in July, he was then only mildly impressive when beating well-exposed Flycorn by four lengths in a Kilbeggan bumper subsequently.
The selection’s latest outing saw him make his debut over jumps at Clonmel 20 days ago. He tried to make all of the running, but had no more to offer once blundering two out, fading to finish seventh behind In A Nutshell. Hopefully, Dr Tommy can build on that initial effort.
Purcell has possibilities of a double with Bridgets Pet in the Bumper. He was beaten half a length by 20-1 shot Murphys Friend at Kilbeggan, but there is encouragement to be gained by the fact the third was a further 11 lengths behind.
Willie Mullins’ Rockyaboya is given another chance in the Proctor And Gamble Maiden Hurdle, having been a costly failure at Tramore last time.
He went off an odds-on favourite but trailed in eighth of nine finishers behind Paint The Toes.
Rockaboya was afterwards found to be clinically abnormal and is better judged on his only other outing for Mullins so far, when beaten half a length by Career Move in a handicap at Cork.
Tony Martin’s Golan Guy gets the vote in the Moy Park Beginners Chase, having shown his well-being when taking the two and a quarter mile Ulster Cesarewitch on the flat at Down Royal.
Martin’s Asymmetrical, a smooth winner of a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in August, could make a winning debut over fences in the Kerry Foods EBF Beginners Chase.
The Listowel meeting, which was cancelled due to waterlogging last Saturday, has been refixed for this coming Friday, September 23.
It will be an all-National Hunt programme, with the exception of the Qualified Riders Conditions Race which was on the original card.
The first race will be off at 2pm.
