Ainama looks the safest bet

AINAMA looks the safest bet — on a very poor card — in the P.Flannery Plant Hire Group London Chase at Ballinrobe this evening.

The ground is certain to be testing and that should hold no fears for Niall Madden’s seven-year-old.

His latest outing came at Killarney last month, when managing only fourth in the beginners chase won by Original Option.

On the face of it that was a disappointing enough effort, but there are extenuating circumstances.

It was, for instance, Ainama’s first run since going down by a neck to St Devote at Tipperary some three months earlier.

As well as that he was very easy to back at Killarney and performed accordingly. The selection is entitled to come on plenty for his latest spin and, hopefully, will be strong in the market on this occasion.

Cecil Ross’ ex-winning pointer, Russian Regent, is the choice in the Sponsors’ Day at Ballinrobe Maiden Hurdle.

He’s had just two runs on the track, the latest coming here a month ago when a length and a quarter second to Bundle Of Fun, who went on to take a handicap at Listowel last week.

The www.ballinroberacecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle, a very poor contest, may go to Colm Murphy’s Ballyhoura, who was seventh behind Rheinland at Killarney in July.

Sorceror, absent since finishing a close fourth to Kakagh at Naas last October, might be capable of squeezing home in front in the modest Come Racing In Ballinrobe 2012 Beginners Chase.
