A second Group 1 winner for O'Brien’s son Joseph, the 8/13 favourite tracked pacemaking stable companion Soon until making her move approaching the two-furlong pole. Soon in front, the Galileo filly was quickly ridden clear and ran on strongly to beat Fire Lily, like the winner carrying the colours of Michael Tabor (but trained by David Wachman), by a length and threequarters. Phoenix Stakes heroine and second favourite La Collina was third.
O'Brien expressed himself “delighted” by Maybe's fifth career victory, explaining: “Joseph rode her the last two times and knew what he wanted to do. And everything went lovely. He says she’s a very uncomplicated filly. She likes to go her own pace and has plenty of gears.”
