Kauto Stone joins Nicholls
The five-year-old chestnut had previously been trained in France by Jehan Bertran de Balanda, for whom he won five of his 14 starts – including a Grade One chase at Auteuil last November.
Nicholls told the Daily Mail: “He’s not as big as Kauto Star.
“You wouldn’t think they were related by looking at him but he won over two miles and six furlongs on heavy ground so obviously stays well.”
Kauto Stone is owned byLouise Kemble and Patrick Atkinson, and had been under consideration for the Feltham Chase at Kempton last December.
