Progressive Teolane looks one to follow
The daughter of Teofilo was slowly away on her debut when a promising fourth behind Aidan O’Brien’s Maybe on this track and then took on a Ballydoyle hot-pot in Secretary Of State at Leopardstown next time.
Teolane proved a strong order in the market, however, and streaked home five and a half lengths clear of Secretary Of State. This is a much hotter contest, of course, but the selection does look one to follow and has been gifted the best draw in one.
The other listed event, the Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes, can go to Aidan O’Brien’s Raphael Santi.
He won well at Gowran Park on his third appearance, beating Lonrach and subsequent winner, Blue White Fire.
Raphael Santi did weave about a bit in the closing stages and the fitting of cheekpieces now can only be a help.
At Listowel today, Willie Mullins can supply the answer to the Bumper with Thewesthowya. The six-year-old created a favourable impression on his debut at Limerick when scoring by 12 lengths.
The Kingdom Mares’ Maiden Hurdle may be best left to Eoin Griffin’s Sallyanka. She has won two bumpers and there was much to admire in the manner in which she battled when beating Clouded Thoughts at Wexford on her latest appearance.
Benefit Of Porter, grabbed late when beaten on the flat by Apt Manor at Tramore on Saturday, has prospects of getting it right first time over fences in the Mares Beginners Chase.
