Leave it to Lambro
Absent since winning a bumper at Clonmel back in September, he has been given lots of time to mature by his in-form handler.
The selection made a big impression that day, relishing the two and a half miles. He arrived with a powerful challenge in the straight to score going away from Good Time Donie and Gran Torino.
Both his immediate victims then, as well as fourth placed He’s Our Man, have won in the meantime.
The Michael Hourigan trained Crash is the obvious danger, although a bit disappointing when only third behind Old McDonald and Jetson at Naas.
He did appear rather one-paced then, but an extra three furlongs now should work in his favour.
Mullins’ Killultagh Queen will prove hard to beat in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Beginners Chase for mares.
She was at a higher level than this last time when beaten a head into second by the gambled-on Montan at Fairyhouse.
Shifa is a third Mullins possibility in the Holy Cross Maiden Hurdle, even if she does have plenty to prove on the evidence of her sole outing in this country.
That came at Thurles two weeks ago, finishing a remote third behind Ruler Of All and Little Green.
It is, however, premature to lose faith in Shifa, considering she won three races in her native France.
The Bumper may be best left to Tommy Stack’s newcomer, Pivotal Rock. Being by Pivotal, he should revel in the testing conditions and Robbie McNamara is a significant booking.
