Gallilei primed to deliver over flights

HENRY DE BROMHEAD’S Gallilei should now be ready to strike over flights and gets the nap to land the second section of the Visit Tipperary Maiden Hurdle at Tipperary this afternoon.

Gallilei primed to deliver over flights

A dual winner on the flat in France for Alain De Royer-Dupre, the selection has taken his time discovering what’s required at this new game.

His first two efforts, last winter, were only mildly promising, but Gallilei’s reappearance at the Listowel Festival was more encouraging.

He attracted plenty of support in the market, but could only manage a two and a half lengths second behind Laughing Boy.

The form got a little boost, however, when the fourth, Double Seven, won at Sligo last Thursday.

Bumper winners Hidden Cyclone and Original Option could be anything, but both are making their jumping debuts and returning from long absences.

The first division of the same race looks weaker and affords Riverstown a good opportunity.

A solid case cannot be made for many of these and Riverstown had one of his main rivals now, Far Away So Close, two and a half lengths behind in third when beaten half a length by The Real Article at Listowel. The Beginners Chase should house a number of future winners, with the nod today falling on Tom Cooper’s Lucky William.

A winner of two bumpers and a maiden hurdle, jumping fences was always going to be the true calling for the six-year-old.

Ella Watson, grabbed late by I Hear A Symphony at Sligo last week, could be the answer to the 2011 Tipperary Supporters’ Club Handicap Hurdle.
