Dundalk race declared void
Danny Grant sustained facial lacerations and tooth damage when unseated from Red Jim which stumbled soon after leaving the stalls and, as the field rounded the stands bend, it soon became clear that he required medical attention on the track.
As Grant was being attended to, a decision was quickly made that the field would have to be diverted around the rider and his ‘helpers, a spur of rail being placed in front of the site of the incident, more than a hundred yards from the winning-post.
