Bobskier looks the part in claimer

ALTHOUGH off the track since June, the Jessica Harrington-trained Bobskier looks good in the two-year-old claimer at Down Royal this evening.

Bobskier looks the part in claimer

A daughter of Big Bad Bob, Bobskier made it third-time-lucky when short-heading Hope Of An Angel in auction maiden at Sligo in late June, form boosted when her victim won the premier nursery at the Galway Festival.

It's a concern that the selection has been off the track for ten weeks, and that she was withdrawn from an engagement in Cork six weeks ago when found to be coughing.

But Jessica Harrington is enjoying a tremendous season with her two-year-olds, notably tomorrow's National Stakes contender Pathfork and Group 1 placed filly Laughing Lashes and, at a more modest level, Bible Belt in Roscommon last Monday.

With talented apprentice Conor Hoban claiming 7lb. off her burden of 8-6, Bobskier should prove very tough to beat.

Her Majesty's Plate, won by three-year-olds for the last four years, is an intriguing centrepiece to an otherwise mundane card.

The progressive Jim Bolger trained filly Myrine, a sister to Sagamix and Sagacity, might prove best. This Sadler's Wells filly bolted up in a very weak Ballinrobe maiden on her second start and was then found wanting in the competitive Killarney handicap won by Top Spin, when she finished behind a couple of her rivals today, subsequent Bellewstown winner Zaralabad and Bahrain Storm.

But Bolger's charge is almost certainly better than that Killarney effort might suggest and she bounced back to winning form in a minor event at Wexford last time when slamming Easy Mate by ten lengths. Myrine looks a straight-forward filly, relishes a test of stamina and might be improving enough to land the spoils.
