Rely on Endless in intriguing contest
He was one of a record eleven winners for Dermot Weld at the Galway Festival and could hardly have been more impressive.
Fitted with blinkers for the first time, the six-year-old exploded clear off the home turn to beat Pozyc by eight lengths.
Weld has now dispensed with the blinkers, possibly deciding they are not necessary with another five furlongs to travel, and Endless Intrigue should prove hard to beat.
His most interesting opponent has to be Edward O’Grady’s highly-regarded the Real Article, whose record in bumpers now stands at three from three. He has looked very good thus far, but there are question marks as to what he’s beaten and Endless Intrigue is a more solid proposition.
The seamus weldon.com John Deer Main Dealer Race has attracted just six runners, but this is another intriguing little contest.
Highest rated is Encompassing, but he’s hardly to be trusted, and preference is for both Unaccompanied and Alsalwa.
Unaccompanied won a maiden in good style at Galway but Alsalwa, successful at Naas and given a spin over six furlongs at the Curragh last time, gets the vote.
Aidan O’Brien runs three in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden, but the nod here falls on once-raced Mawaakef.
A stable companion of Alsalwa, Kevin Prendergast’s colt ran with a lot of promise when fourth to the exciting Pathfork and subsequent Galway winner, Robin Hood, at the Curragh.
