Walsh looks set to make winning return on Hail Caesar
The grey son of Montjeu is the ideal partner for any jockey returning from a long-term injury because, touch wood, he is an immaculate jumper.
Formerly a Ballydoyle inmate, Hail Caesar is certainly no star, but does look good enough to land this modest enough affair.
After taking a moderate maiden at Ballinrobe, he stepped into winners’ company at the recent Galway Festival and emerged with reputation enhanced.
Hail Caesar edged to the front before the straight and looked sure to score jumping the final flight.
In the end, however, he was run out of it and beaten three parts of a length by Dermot Weld’s Force Of Habit.
The form is ordinary, the third and fourth have been beaten in the meantime, but Hail Caesar still looks the percentage call against the likes of Soldier Bay and Save My Blushes.
Strandfield Lady is the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Handicap. She stayed on strongly when beaten half a length into second by Endless Expanse at Leopardstown last week and should relish this extra furlong.
Gordon Elliott’s Definite All Star may be worth a minor wager in the Roscommon Racing 125 Years Maiden Hurdle.
He has been disappointing, but is entitled to go close on his third to Carrigmartin and Turner Brown, both successful since, at Ballinrobe.
