Solent Ridge set to defy top weight

Ger Lyons’s five-year-old is improving and fancied to make light of a 10lbs rise in the weights for a convincing success at Naas six days ago.

The selection had promised more than was delivered heading to Naas, but put it all together on this occasion, bounding clear up the final hill to score by three and a half lengths.

The Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Auction Maiden can go to Ferocious Fran, a costly failure at Down Royal on her latest appearance.

Backed from 9-4 to 5-4 favouritism, Kevin Prendergast’s filly never gave supporters any cause for optimism, trailing in a modest third behind Mr Man In The Moon and Bisou Baby. She was flat to the boards throughout over that very easy five furlongs, however, and will have a much better chance of relaxing now, with an extra furlong and a half to travel.

Andrew Oliver does well with his string and Another Reema could do the business for him in the Racing Again At Sligo July 11th Maiden.

There’s little doubt she’s ordinary, as evidenced by a third to Bea Remembered at the Curragh and fifth to Skyway at Naas.

Both races were run over a mile and, as a daughter of Singpsiel, Another Reema may now come into her own travelling ten furlongs for the first time!

It was raining at Sligo yesterday and the more that fell the more it would be to the advantage of Aseasyas in the Claiming Race.

On a surface far too quick, she ran a cracker when beaten two short heads into third behind Ladytown and Little Bug at Ballinrobe last week and gets the nod.
