Well can breeze in

THERE are solid reasons for believing Breezed Well capable of landing the 18-runner Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap on a low-key programme at Fairyhouse this evening.

Well can breeze in

James McAuley’s gelding showed much improved form to score at Navan last Friday night and it is no surprise is turned out again so quickly.

The three-year-old hit top gear at the furlong pole, shooting right away to beat The Silver Crown by four and a half lengths.

The manner in which he handled the Navan hill would indicate that stepping up another two furlongs now is a big plus for the selection. Added to that is the fact Breezed Well runs here under a mandatory 5lbs penalty and goes up no less than 13lbs in the future, which has to make him almost an automatic choice!

Aidan O’Brien’s Emperor Claudius has the best of the weights in the Bobbyjo Bistro Race, but this is a slightly belated seasonal debut for a horse who was a useful enough juvenile.

His best performance last campaign came at Royal Ascot when Emperor Claudius was beaten a short head into second by Richard Hannon’s Big Audio in the Chesham Stakes. His travels in the market will obviously be worth noting, but in any case preference is for Luisant.

He has been mixing it with some good company of late, producing another solid effort when third to Miss Gorica and Rain Delayed over an inadequate five furlongs at Naas nine days ago.
