Express bids to steam home

IRISH trainer Adrian McGuinness is hoping the decision to drop Toufan Express in distance continues to pay dividends in the Coral Sprint Trophy at York this afternoon.

Express bids to steam home

The seven-year-old has won his last two starts since stepping back in trip.

Toufan Express followed up a seven-furlong success at Listowel with a neck victory in a 29-runner premier handicap at the Curragh two weeks ago in his first attempt at six furlongs from 27 races.

Fellow Irish raider Irish Heartbeat, trained by David Myerscough, was beaten two and a quarter lengths in fourth.

“It’s a very competitive race, but we’ve been running him over a mile for the last couple of years and we’ve just dropped him in trip the last two runs,” said the Lusk trainer.

“He seems to have got better and better and we think he’ll run a big race."
