Denman may go for Hennessy

PAUL NICHOLLS has not ruled out bidding for a second Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup with Denman.

The nine-year-old endured a stop-start campaign last season after suffering from a heart problem, but ran a fine race to chase home stablemate Kauto Star in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, before falling at Aintree.

The son of Presenting put up one of the greatest weight-carrying performances of the modern era when trouncing his rivals under 11st 12lb in the 2007 Hennessy, and a return to Newbury in November is under consideration.

Meanwhile, Kauto Star is likely to take in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal for the second season in succession, while dual Champion Chase hero Master Minded is being lined up for a new race at the Paddy Power meeting at Cheltenham in November.
