Rely on Red
Dermot Weld’s Firey Red, much favoured by the conditions of the heat, is the nap choice in the Naas Racecourse Supporting ITBA Race.
Hopefully, she will strip fit and fancied, following an absence of 73 days, because the selection has a minimum of 8lbs in hand of her principal rivals.
The daughter of Pivotal hasn’t been seen since finishing third behind Baliyana and Aaroness in a Group 3 at Leopardstown in May.
Prior to that Firey Red, successful in her only outing as a juvenile, showed a soft surface held no fears for her when beaten a short head by Oh Goodness Me in another Group 3 at the the Curragh.
Jim Bolger’s once-raced Reiteration can prove too good for two Ballydoyle newcomers in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden for colts and geldings.
The son of Vindication made a most promising start at the Curragh ten days ago, finishing to real effect when runner-up behind Aidan O’Brien’s heavily-backed Black Quartz, the verdict half a length.
It mightn’t pay to place too much trust in any of those in the Naas Racecourse Suppporting ITBA Maiden, with a tentative nod falling on Bean Uasal.
After making an eye-catching seasonal debut at Limerick, she then flopped at Dundalk next time. Perhaps, dropping down to six furlongs will see Bean Uasal in a more favourable light!
Hawkhill ran nicely when second to Master Marvel at Fairyhouse on Sunday and should go close in the Goffs’ Bloodstock Sales Supporting ITBA Handicap
