Gleanntan can go one better
She made an excellent start at Punchestown just under four weeks ago and, if building on that, will prove hard to beat.
The daughter of Lil’s Boy went off an easy to back 12-1 shot in a 24-runner affair. Ridden out the back and given plenty of time to understand what was required, Gleanntan gradually edged into the contest to finish a length second behind Milbig Lass.
That winner had previously finished a promising fourth at the Punchestown Festival, so chances are the form is reasonably smart.
The 6th August Ladies Day At Sligo Handicap would normally be the type of heat one could not swerve fast enough, but this contains an interesting contender in Medical Venture and he might be worth a wager.
Michael Halford’s nine-year-old has obviously been hard to train and runs far too intermittently for comfort.
He was returning from a break when fourth to Le Leopard at Wexford in May and, hopefully, can improve on that effort.
Prior to Wexford, he ran a couple of solid races over flights towards the back-end of last year.
Medical Debenture competes here off a paltry mark of 47, particularly tempting for a horse who was good enough to win two bumpers!
Adrian Maguire’s Karaking, grabbed late by well-backed Akinspirit at Clonmel, could be up to winning the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle.
