Miss Goricacan build on Naas effort
Arguably not the most consistent of sorts, the selection is easily best in at the weights and arrives on the back of a decent effort at Naas 16 days ago.
That was her first outing since a stint at Nad Al Sheba, where she scored once in five outings through the months of January and February.
The daughter of Mull Of Kintyre was beaten a length into second by Dandy Nicholls’ Inxile over five furlongs at Naas.
All the evidence suggests this seven furlongs is not a worry and it simply a question of whether Miss Gorica can run anywhere close to her current rating of 102.
The Batterstown Handicap is competitive, but a little on Big Game Hunter may be worth risking.
He looked all at sea on the testing ground when winning a moderate maiden at Navan and this surface will be far more in his favour.
The other plus, of course, is that John Oxx’s horses could hardly be in better shape right now!
The modest Ashbourne Maiden may best best left to Willie Mullins’ Tawaagg, who scored over flights at Wexford in March.
That was all of 92 days ago, but fitness is rarely a worry with candidates from this quarter.
The Ratoath Maiden is woeful, with Dermot Weld’s April getting a hopeful vote. She started the campaign with a decent effort, beaten a short head by Vaticano at Naas.
It was disappointing, however, when April appeared to have made no progress subsequently when only third to 25-1 shot French Irish at Gowran Park.
