Three can go one better

BEA Bea Three gets a hopeful nap to win the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden, on a rather low-key mixed programme at Gowran Park tonight.

Kevin Prendergast’s daughter of Montjeu made a promising enough start at Limerick last month and can build on that.

She was beaten half a length into second by the relatively experienced Bibury, staying on quite nicely at the end of the extended seven furlongs.

Truth to tell, the form of the contest hasn’t been working out particularly well, but this a weak race and Bea Bea Three is made the star choice, on the basis there are few betting opportunities on the card anyway.

The Full Golf Membership At Gowran Park Maiden Hurdle centres around two factors, Cranky Corner and the ground.

Cranky Corner was seventh behind Dunguib at Cheltenham, but then disappointed at Aintree subsequently.

It is no great surprise he is now sent jumping and a set of obstacles and two and a half miles could be just what’s required. One suspects what the market reveals may prove vital.

If the surface continues to dry out, however, Mouse Morris’ Power Of Attorney could well have the legs on the likely favourite.

He has promised more than was delivered thus far, but has plenty of experience and, as a son of Presenting, would almost certainly relish decent ground!

The opening Annual Golf Membership Available At Gowran Park Maiden will take little winning and may be best left to High Magic.

David Wachman’s colt indicated a bad race such as this might be within his compass when third to hot-pot, Castor, at Limerick
