Yeats set for Vintage hat-trick

A DULL and uninspiring weekend of racing in Ireland may be lit up by Yeats in the Listed Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan tomorrow.

Very much a veteran at eight years-of-age now, his whole season will revolve around trying to win the Ascot Gold Cup for a fourth time.

We can be pretty certain then Yeats will be far from wound up for this test, but such considerations have not prevented him from winning the race for the last two years. The brilliant son of Sadler’s Wells is the best stayer in these islands and, while aware he may well be vulnerable now, still has to get the vote.
