He was well backed to make a winning debut in a bumper at Thurles in December and duly obliged. The selection then went to Thurles in January, for his first start over flights, but ran no sort of race to finish a remote fifth behind Inistioge.
Layde Back was, however, found to be lame afterwards and is fancied to set the record straight, in a weak contest.
Moonlight Sapphire looks best in the Kilbeggan Maiden Hurdle. Runner-up behind Maid Of Malabar at Cork, she may prove too good for Tony Martin’s Honour The World.
