Rely on Rare Ransom
The daughter of Oasis Dream ran a cracking Ballybrit trial at Leopardstown last month and has clearly been set aside for this test.
At Leopardstown, she was beaten half a length into second by David Wachman’s Chintz, only giving best inside the furlong pole, after attempting to make all.
The form seems solid enough, with Chintz going on to chase home two smart horses in Shimah at the Curragh and Luminous Eyes at Leopardstown. A very favourable draw in 12 is an obvious plus.
Mick Channon’s Evening Sunset is an interesting opponent. She made her debut at Newmarket, finishing seven lengths fourth behind Luca Cumani’s Fantasia.
The third and fifth then, however, Sharpener and Helpmeronda respectively, have since got well beaten.
A bigger danger may be Kevin Prendergast’s Mark Of An Angel, a creditable third to Luminous Eyes and Chintz in a Group 3 at Leopardstown.
Weld’s Noble Crusader will surely go off favourite for the Tote Placepot Races 1 to 6 Maiden Hurdle, particularly with Ruby Walsh taking the ride.
But he has a long absence to overcome and didn’t seem to relish the hill in a winners’ bumper here before, so preference is for Sanglote.
The five-year-old has seemingly been discarded by Walsh, who was aboard when Eoin Griffin’s charge was beaten a flattering length by Schelm at Limerick.
Great Barrier Reef, Award Ceremony and Keyala look the three on which to concentrate in the Tote EBF Maiden, although none of them are to be trusted.
The final nod falls on Great Barrier Reef, a most frustrating sort, who was completely taken off his feet over six furlongs at Naas last week when only fourth in a moderate race behind First In Command.
The featured Tote Galway Mile EBF Handicap is a total puzzle. Monteriggioni, runner-up behind Reload at Leopardstown, is an optimistic choice.
