Gent makes impressive chasing debut

DREAMY Gent made an impressive chasing debut in the Martin Tyrrell Auctioneers Beginners Chase at Ballinrobe last night.

A four-time winner over hurdles last year, Dream Gent was confidently handled by Andrew Leigh and warmed to his new task as the race developed, jumping past Emperor Titus four fences from home before stretching clear to slam Freud Bacon by eighteen lengths.

Trainer Jessica Harrington was not present. But her travelling headman Eamonn Leigh, father of the winning rider explained: “You’d have to be delighted with that. The ground has been so hard at home that the only schooling he has done has been in the indoor-school.
