Brennan reaches century with Perth four-timer

PADDY BRENNAN stole the show at Perth yesterday, reaching a century of winners for the first time on The Great Alfie and celebrating in style by going on to complete 2,772-1 four-timer with Nudge And Nurdle, Little Bob and Andrew Nick.

Brennan reaches century with Perth four-timer

Since his split with Graham Wylie and Howard Johnson the rider has struck up a successful partnership with Nigel Twiston-Davies, who trains The Great Alfie, Nudge And Nurdle and Andrew Nick and who made it four for himself when Major Malarkey gave Sam Drinkwater, 17, his first success under Rules in the Betfair Amateur Riders’ Finale Handicap Hurdle.

Brennan said: “Nigel is a brilliant trainer and it is great to work with someone who always wants to improve.

“It is a great achievement to ride a hundred winners, what with the suspensions and injuries – but we start from scratch on Sunday (start of new season) and we will be even hungrier.”

The Great Alfie had one and a quarter lengths to spare over My Arch in the StanJamesUK.com Novices’ Handicap Hurdle, while Nudge And Nurdle had a closer call of it in just touching off Fleet Street by a head in S. B J. Nelson Steavenson Novices’ Chase.
