Cailin Alainn set for Cottage Chase return
Charles Byrnes’ dual Grade One-winning mare has been off since picking up an injury when running on the level at Galway.
“It looks like an ideal race to start her off in,” said Byrnes.
“The main thing is that she jumps around safely and gets round, anything else would be a bonus.”
“I don’t think we’ll take her to Cheltenham this year, we’ll aim for either Aintree or Punchestown.”
Meanwhile, Liam Burke has yet to commit Thyne Again to Cheltenham.
Thyne Again provided the trainer and successful bloodstock agent with a career highlight in Sunday’s Baileys Arkle Perpetual Challenge Cup and holds entries in both the Cheltenham equivalent and the Royal & SunAlliance Chase.
However, Burke has also mentioned the Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse as a spring option. “He was very impressive on Sunday and I was delighted. He’s in at Leopardstown a week on Sunday over two miles five (Moriarty Novice Chase) but that will probably be too soon and we might go to Navan a week later. After that, we’ll see.”
