One Cool Cookie looks tasty option in ‘Kinloch Brae’
Charlie Swan has afforded his charge a 39-day break, since the progressive seven-year-old contested the Grade 1 Durkan Chase at Punchestown in early December, and the selection is likely to strip fresh and well for this test.
He produced a decent enough effort at Punchestown to finish 19 lengths and seven lengths third behind the impressive The Listener and Mansony, in a contest which has been working out quite nicely.
The Listener set a scorching pace on that occasion and nothing was able to live with him, although One Cool Cookie did keep going strongly in the straight.
A brilliant jumper and at his best when allowed bowl along near the front, Conor O'Dwyer's mount has plenty in his favour in a race in which there are question marks against all of his rivals.
Willie Mullins' ex-French horse, Pomme Tiepy, gets the nap in the Grade 3 Coolmore National Hunt Sires EBF Mares Novice Chase. Successful over fences in her native country, Pomme Tiepy made an excellent start in Ireland when scoring by nine lengths at Cork last month.
Her jumping was particularly safe and the way she came home gave every indication that stepping up another three furlongs now will be a plus.
Ruby Walsh partners Pomme Tiepy and he and Mullins can also combine to take the INH Stallion Owners' EBF Novice Hurdle with Cooldine.
He had little or nothing to beat when easily taking his maiden on this track two weeks ago, but appeared on good terms with himself and it was a big improvement on his previous two efforts over flights.
Scavenger has by far the better form, third to Glenrock Leader at Limerick on his latest appearance, but it won't be a huge surprise should Cooldine improve past him!
Tony Martin's Munnings has to be of interest in the D and S Tarmac Handicap Hurdle, off a lowly rating of 88.
Winner of a 12 furlongs Curragh handicap in the summer, his travels in the market will surely be all important!
