Marseillais can finally come good

MARSEILLAIS, who is capable of sending punters to the poor house, might finally deliver in the second division of the December 26-29 Christmas Racing Festival Maiden Hurdle at Limerick this afternoon.

If there is a way out of winning then he is likely to find it, but at the same time this does represent a decent opportunity.

He looked all over a winner going to the last at Cork, finished third to Crooked Street, and was then grabbed late at Wexford by Angels’ Share.

Marseillais’ latest effort came at Down Royal nine days ago, when he again managed to turn victory into defeat.

The four-year-old looked sure to score, until buckling late and going down by a length and a half to the smart Muirhead.

Edward O’Grady’s charge certainly isn’t for those of a questionable constitution, but it may well be a case of now or never and he gets the nap.

The first section of the same contest may be best left to the moderate Curragh Mountain. He wasn’t disgraced, although flattered, when a length and a half runner-up to Ah Ya Boy Ya at Punchestown and this is a weak race.

Guiding Dream is put forward against likely favourite, Kirbybroguelantern, in the Book 2008 Annual Membership Maiden Hurdle.

She ran a couple of nice races in bumpers, without winning, and has a spin over flights, fourth at Cork last January, and that should stand to her.
