Dianella’sturn looks to have arrived
David Myerscough’s daughter of Gold Away showed a distinct liking for this track a week ago and her turn has surely arrived!
Dianella tried to make all and they were tactics which seemed destined to succeed for most of that one mile journey.
In the end it wasn’t to be, however, and she was mugged close home and beaten a head by Eskadron. The selection appeared very happy being allowed to bowl along and, hopefully, it will be a case of more of the same.
Feature event is the richly-endowed Listed Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Star Of Appeal Stakes and the nod here falls on Dermot Weld’s Going Public.
The Night Shift colt performed solidly in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh last time, third to Curtain Call and Domestic Fund, and a repeat of that effort will at least see him go close.
Weld can complete a double with Fly Free in the MCR Civil Engineering Claiming Race. The highest rated horse in the contest, he emphasised his current well-being when runner-up behind Potion in a Roscommon handicap last month.
Another who has the best of the weights, Abraham Lincoln, can take the six furlongs MCR Security Race.
He won in fine style at the Curragh, prior to being far from disgraced when less than five lengths ninth behind Haatef in the Group 2 Diadem Stakes at Ascot.
