Conna Castle could miss rest of season with pastern injury
Explained his trainer, Jimmy Mangan: “He has suffered a hairline fracture of his hind pastern. Conna will be reassessed again in six weeks and possibly could be back in the new year.
“But we won’t be taking any chances. There wouldn’t be any point in bringing him back if he’s 99% right, it will have to be 100%.
“Realistically, it is probably not looking good and he may well be out until next season.”
The eight-year-old had come right back to his best form of late. He battled in fine style to beat Knight Legend at Listowel and then won easily at Roscommon.
It was at Roscommon, however, that he was injured, when colliding in mid-air with Articulation at the third last.
