Enforcer worth risking despite faster ground

THERE seems little cause for optimism at the second stage of Listowel this afternoon, where The Quiet Enforcer is a hopeful nap choice in the Goffs' Autumn Bonus.

Following a reasonably promising debut at Fairyhouse, the son of Fath made no mistake at Roscommon next time.

Andrew Oliver's charge went to the front before half way and galloped on relentlessly to beat subsequent winner, Lily Whitford, unextended by three and a half lengths.

The worry now is his ability to handle fast ground, but on a day when betting opportunities are going to be few and far between it seems worth the risk!

Aidan O'Brien's Chesapeake Bay, a long way down the pecking order at Ballydoyle you'd imagine, gets the nod in the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Maiden.

He finished a well beaten fourth behind Unquenchable Fire at Gowran Park last time, but was hampered leaving the stalls and could never get in a blow.

The very frustrating Dr Swanini might finally enjoy a turn in the Brandon Hotel Maiden Hurdle. He finished a close third behind Florrie's Boy and Newlands North at Kilbeggan and that effort gives him a better chance than most in this particularly weak heat.

Feature evens it the Listowel Races Supporters' Club Lartigue Handicap hurdle, but this looks virtually impossible to solve. A token choice is Nick Nevin's Orvietan, touched off late by Gurrun at Cork nine days ago.

Tachers Choice, third to Katirisa at the Curragh, gets the nod in the six and a half furlongs O'Callaghan Family Hotels Handicap.
