Myboycharlie bursts into Classic picture with emphatic Morny success
The Tommy Stack-trained colt was slashed to 7-1 joint-favourite from 16-1 with William Hill for the Stan James 2000 Guineas after routing the field.
Coolmore purchased the son of Danetime following his seven-length success in the Anglesey Stakes and it already looks money well spent.
Kieren Fallon had him in the box seat, tracking his main market rival Natagora in the early stages before unleashing him on the outside to make his challenge.
Once given the office, Myboycharlie swooped into the lead to secure a two-length verdict over Natagora. Andre Fabre’s Alexandros was another half-length away in third.
“He did it superbly well and everything went to plan, thank God,” said Fozzy Stack, son and assistant to the winning trainer.
“I’m delighted and I felt Kieren gave him a perfect ride – he also really enjoyed himself on that ground.
“Everything is now open to him and obviously the Guineas would be a long-term possibility.”
Fallon added: “He’s a decent type of horse, a top-of-the-ground horse.
“He has won twice on soft ground though but I wouldn’t mind him getting better ground.
“She (Natagora) was the one I had to beat and I didn’t want her to get a few lengths up on me.”
Winker Watson was withdrawn from the Group One contest over six furlongs by his trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam because of the rain-softened ground.
