The race was marred, however, by the fatal fall of Master Ofthe Chase at the final flight. The winner and Master Ofthe Chase roared down to the last stride for stride.

They took off together, but Master Ofthe Chase crashed at the back of the obstacle and broke his neck. Fortunately, his rider, David Casey, walked away unscathed.
