Detroit City generally a 2/1 chance following Irish pair’s defection

William Hill spokesman Ben Clarke said: “It’s a massive blow for the Irish challenge, but with two less Irish runners to beat, British punters, and in particular Detroit City fans, will be even more confident the grey can emulate Rooster Booster and finally loosen the Irish grip on the Champion Hurdle crown.”

Another leading member of the home team is Straw Bear, whose trainer Nick Gifford believes will be suited by the likely fast pace.
