Leave it to Legend

TYONE LEGEND is a hopeful nap choice to land the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle on what is a difficult card at Clonmel this afternoon.

The lightly-raced daughter of Germany made a good start over jumps at Thurles last month and looks capable of a big run.

She finished third behind Female and Omas Olen, beaten just over three lengths. Omas Glen gave the form a big boost when returning to Thurles to score by nine lengths.

Island Life and Mine'sasmallone are the form horses in the Powerstown three-year-old Maiden Hurdle, but neither has been convincing, and maybe the newcomer to jumping, Nasafar, could provide the answer. The son of Cape Cross is in the care of Jim Culloty, who enjoyed his first success as a trainer at Thurles a week ago.

Nasafar scored twice on the level for John Oxx, showing that testing conditions hold no fears for him when slamming Bobs Pride by five lengths at Navan in October.

Christy Roche's charges aren't exactly flying, but he could have a turn with Fourball in the moderate Templetuohy Farm Machinery Beginners Chase.

The selection, no great shakes over hurdles, might have a future at this game, on the evidence of his creditable third to subsequently disqualified The Tricky Bricky and Ballyfinney at Downpatrick.

Former winning pointer Simons Girl, last seen when touched off late by Presenting Copper at Tipperary in May, gets the nod in the Bumper.
