MISTER McGoldrick looks the pick in the Dawn Construction Chase, the feature race at Ayr this afternoon, and there would be no more popular winner than Sue Smith’s evergreen gelding.

The Wetherby specialist is two from four at the Scottish venue and would have been three from four but for falling two from home back in 2004.

He is just short of top class but his handicap mark has meant that he has had to compete at the highest level off level weights and he has rarely let connections down.
