Culhane in the wars

TONY CULHANE was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield after suffering a shoulder injury in a crashing fall at Pontefract yesterday.

He was riding Roclette in the Polar Ford Van Centre Maiden Stakes when the Barry Hills-trained filly, who was chasing the leaders, suddenly stumbled and fell, bringing down Robert Winston on Packers Hill and Danny Tudhope on Watch Out.

Winston emerged unscathed from the incident but gave up his remaining ride of the day, while Tudhope was stood down for six days with concussion.Culhane was not so lucky and was taken to hospital by ambulance nursing his right shoulder.
