Cobham can collect for a third time in Bumper
Willie Mullins’ improving six-year-old looks sure to go to the front from the start and this relentless galloper is fancied to concede weight all round.
He put up a fine display on his latest appearance at Bellewstown earlier in the month, making all to beat Master Gladiator by three and a half lengths.
The selection takes on a couple of smart rivals now, but can come through this test with flying colours.
Feature event is the Grade Three Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle which can fall to Callow Lake, representing the bang-in-form Jessica Harrington yard.
Like Cobham he is consistent, but rather worryingly doesn’t often get his head in front. Indeed, Callow Lake has been second three times in-a-row of late.
Nevertheless, those efforts read well enough, particularly his performance when beaten a length and a half by Acambo in the fiercely competitive 21-runner Swinton Handicap Hurdle at Haydock back in early May.
Eoin Griffin’s Artiste Bay, who would have a lot more to do in a handicap, reads a solid wager to land the Ramada Ballykisteen Hurdle.
He was returning from a little break when beaten 21 lengths by Davenport Democrat at Roscommon and will surely strip a lot fitter now.
At Tipperary tonight, Con Collins’ Savante, who showed definite promise as a two-year-old, looks set to get off the mark in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden.
She made a belated, but promising, seasonal debut when seventh behind Soar With Eagles at the Curragh last weekend.
Rhythm ‘N Blues, a John Oxx-trained first-timer by Sinndar, is probably the biggest worry.
Aidan O’Brien introduces the Storm Cat newcomer, Brave Tin Soldier, in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden, but most juveniles from Ballydoyle come on loads for an outing.
In any case this is a decent contest, with Rabatash and Divertimenti two colts who seem to have a future. The vote goes to Rabatash, who enjoyed no luck in running when seventh to Elhamri in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Kahuna, capable of breaking a bank, will never get a better opportunity than that afforded him in the four- runner Ramada Worldwide Chase.
